Simple Syrup with Fresh Lavender Buds

This lavender syrup is made with fresh lavender buds, sugar, and water to create a sweet, aromatic floral syrup for flavoring cocktails, lemonade, baked goods, creamers, and more!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lavender buds (or 1 ½ teaspoons dried lavender buds)

Directions

  1. Combine water, sugar, and lavender buds in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let syrup steep for 30 minutes.

  2. After 30 minutes, and while still warm, pour syrup into a sterilized glass jar through a fine mesh strainer to remove lavender buds; let cool.

Lavender is part of the mint family and is known for its calming and relaxing properties. While the flavor is subjective, we find it’s best described as delicately herbal and floral, with a hint of sweetness.
