Lavender Honey Lemonade

Lavender Honey Lemonade

Nothing is more refreshing on a hot summer day in Wisconsin like lemonade - with a sweet lavender and honey twist! It’s best when made with fresh squeezed lemon juice but if all you have is concentrate, we won’t tell.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lavender buds (or 1 ½ teaspoons dried lavender buds)

  • 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (approximately 5-6 lemons)

  • 4 cups water

  • blue and red food coloring (optional)

  • ice

Directions

Make Lavender Honey Simple Syrup

Combine sugar, water, and lavender buds in a pan. Bring to a boil and allow it to boil for 1 minute. Then remove from heat, stir in the honey, and allow mixture to steep for 30 minutes. Next, use a sieve to strain out the lavender buds and discard.

Assemble the Lemonade

In a large pitcher, combine the lavender honey simple syrup with the lemon juice, remaining water, ice, and optional food coloring.

Stir and allow to chill for 5 minutes.

Tips

  • If you like a sweeter lemonade, double the amount of sugar.

  • If you like a stronger lavender flavor, allow to steep for 1 hour or add an extra tablespoon of fresh lavender buds.

  • If you like your lavender lemonade spiked, well, I think you know how to alter the recipe for that!

Enjoy!

Garnish with a lemon wheel or a fresh sprig of lavender and enjoy your homemade lavender honey lemonade! The sweet floral taste is sure to compliment any sunny summer day in Wisconsin.
