Lavender and Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies
Lavender and Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies
Homemade Lavender and Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies are an elegant twist on a classic favorite.
Fresh or dried, lavender is one of those scents that is soothing, subtle, and so wonderful. And remember, dried lavender is stronger than fresh lavender so if you’re using dried, use half as much to achieve the same amount of flavor if a recipe calls for fresh lavender. Adding too much can impart some bitterness, so just a caution.
This Lavender and Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe has forward notes of sea salt with a burst of lavender flavor that compliments the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Ingredients
3/4 cup butter, room temperature
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoon corn starch
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon dried lavender buds (4 teaspoons if using fresh lavender buds)
1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking soda, salt and lavender. Then add to the wet ingredients and beat until combined.
Add in the chocolate chips.
Roll dough into 1” balls using your hands and space about 2” apart on baking sheets.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden brown around the edges.
Immediately sprinkle with sea salt as soon as you remove a sheet from the oven, before cooling.
Transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Enjoy!
